Introduction
The censorship of internet has always been a controversial topic all this while. Many people have argued for the censorship of certain insulting websites while others deem it as the invasion of personal rights. However, there is no denying that the internet has its own fair share of benefits and drawbacks. It can bring about much convenience to the people in the daily life but also encourages the incidence of cyber crimes such as hacking, virus attacks and internet fraud. In my opinion, the internet should be censored.

Body
A. morally offensive websites
- negative influence on children/ teenagers
- picking up of undesirable habits
- leading to decadence of society if uncontrolled
- uncomfortable to view certain content on websites
- abuse of certain websites eg. youtube


B. increasing incidence of crime rates
- free to post any material, regardless of content
- leading to cybercrimes eg, pornography, virus attacks etc
- hassle and trouble for people.
- Internet becomes an unreliable and dangerous form of network


C. protection of human rights
- spread of offensive materials
- example: NYP sex video which was published online
-invasion of rights- content posted cannot be restricted
- example: some people make use of blogs to express their dislike on certain races, groups. (recent Singapore case)
- leads to racial disharmony and discrimination
- dire consequences

D. invasion of personal rights (rebuttal)
- people feel that they should be allowed to view any websites they wish
- lack of freedom
- brings about inconvenience and lack of entertainment eg. youtube.
- there will always be the presence of offensive websites and is impossible to censor all the possible sites. Therefore, public should be educated on the correct usage of internet.
- however, although it is challenging to control the material on the websites, it does not mean that we should stop trying.
- in this way, we will be condoning the recalcitrant actions of the offenders
- tantamount to condoning the actions of a thief who may claim that it is his own right to steal?
- censorship of websites can protect the general public from further harm. After all, peace should not be disrupted by a few spiteful words from other people.

Conclusion
The censorship of internet will be able to reduce the rate of cybercrimes and preventing the abuse of internet. Internet is an useful tool of communication which should not be misused. Although we live in a democratic world, there are certain issues which should not be allowed total freedom as it will only encourage
exploitation, in this case, the internet. Perhaps stricter laws can be enforced or the public can be educated on the proper usage of internet.
